Programme Structure
Providing adequate physical preparation to trampoline gymnasts can be a challenge. This programme is designed to support the coach in their delivery of physical preparation to groups, utilising a flexible structure to accommodate all types of situations and environments. Sessions are split into “Essential” and “Optional” sections. This allows the coach to adapt the programme to each group of gymnasts based on their schedule and availability.
Essential
The essential part of the programme consists of an extensive 20-30 minute warm up, which includes the key components of a R.A.M.P warm up (Raise/Activate/Mobilise/Potentiate). Within this, the group will work on basic strength exercises and develop efficient movement patterns, whilst also preparing the gymnasts for the demands of the upcoming technical session.
Optional
The optional part of the programme includes a 30 minute session focussing on strength, power, plyometrics and conditioning. These sessions are designed for clubs looking to transition into a more demanding, performance orientated environment, with the need to develop fundamental qualities to improve trampoline performance.
Learning to Train
The “Learning to Train” phase of Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) is a crucial stage for trampoline gymnasts, as it focuses on building the foundational movement skills and physical literacy necessary for future performance. During this phase, gymnasts develop coordination, balance, strength and flexibility, which are essential for mastering trampoline techniques and progressions. Our programme targets this phase with tailored exercises that enhance movement efficiency and body control, preparing gymnasts to safely handle the increased technical demands of the sport. By building strong foundations early, gymnasts are set up for long-term success in their trampoline careers.
